Bigfoot English Learning Program

To address the deteriorating English proficiency of Filipino graduates, Bigfoot Asia Pacific Foundation expanded its assistance by providing the use of its English learning products. In 2006, Bigfoot donated 20,000 free accounts of CleverCourse, an online English course developed by Bigfoot Global Solutions Inc for Cleverlearn Ltd.

According to Bigfoot Foundation president, Joe Mercado, "As the Philippines endeavors to be globally competitive, we want to do our part by addressing this concern. English is the international language of business and it has become an indispensable tool in our continuing development."

With the program, "Bigfoot Asia Pacific Foundation shares with the public schoolchildren the Cleverlearn English learning system and experience and hopes to help the students attain their goal of achieving higher qualifications especially in an English-driven market." added Mercado added.

In 2006, Bigfoot built 2 mobile English learning centers at a cost of USD50,000. The Mobile centers are complete with network servers and PCs. Two teachers trained to handle the Bigfoot developed English courses are assigned and paid for by Bigfoot to handle the mobile learning center.

Bigfoot Asia Pacific Foundation fielded these two (2) Bigfoot Mobile Learning Centers complete with computers and the Cleverlearn English learning software, Cleverlearn Premium, for one whole year in both Dumanjug and Daan Bantayan municipalities. In 2008, one of the Mobile Learning Centers has been stationed at City Central School to benefit the elementary and night high schools.

Cleverlearn Premium allows students to pick up language points at their own speed on the computer and then combines with face-to-face teacher’s time for enhanced learning. It comes with a database management system that allows monitoring of student’s progress. Students come to the mobile center to enhance their English language skills with the guidance of the Bigfoot trained teachers.
